Although the ASN Degree is not a fully online program, the required courses to apply to this program, are available to you fully online. 

Albany State University offers the core curriculum fully online for students.   If you are a student who is beginning the exciting educational journey into Nursing (ASN), you can fully complete online  all the required courses  to officially submit your nursing application to the Nursing Division for consideration.  

Please Note: The ASN degree has the Traditional Track and the Bridge Track available. The number of credit hours you see on the print degree screen only reflects the pre-requisite core classes needed to apply to the ASN program track and does not imply an earned ASN degree with those hours.

Nursing available fully online:

  • RN to BSN
  • Masters in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner Track)
  • Masters in Nursing (Nurse Educator Track)
  • ASN - core requirements only

The following classes must be completed prior to submitting an application to the Nursing Division for acceptance into the ASN Bridge Program: ENGL 1101 + ENGL 1102 + MATH 1001 OR MATH 1111 + PSYC 1101 + ARTS 1100 OR MUSC 1100, + POLS 1101 + BIOL 2411k + BIOL 2412k + **BIOL 2211k. **Important Note about BIOL 2211k (Microbiology) Is not currently offered fully online at Albany State University. We do offer this class as a hybrid option with the coursework online and the Lab on campus. In order to accommodate students who must travel to campus, we typically offer a few different sections with one (long) lab a week to minimize travel time. If traveling to our campus is not feasible for you, please contact your advisor for assistance in obtaining a transient permission letter to take this course at an institution near you.

The following classes must be completed prior to submitting an application to the Nursing Division for acceptance into the ASN Traditional Track: ENGL 1101 + BIOL 2411k + MATH 1001 OR MATH 1111. However, it is important for students to understand that although BIOL 2412k is not required to apply to the ASN traditional track, it is highly recommended to also complete the BIOL 2412k for these reasons: (1) Your TEAS scores must be turned in with your application and the TEAS test includes materials covered in the BIOL 2412k. (2) A student who completes the BIOL 2411k AND the BIOL 2412k both will receive higher consideration on their nursing program application.

Depending on your enrollment status you may be required to take ASU 1101 (1 credit hour) ASU 1101 is required for first-time college students or transfer students bringing in less than 12 transfer credit hours.
